Form B
1. Photograph a subject and incorporate a large depth of field
2. Photograph a moving subject and create blur (while keeping the background in focsu)
I needed a slow shutter speed, so that the motion would be captured as a blur. I set the camera on the ground so that the background would be in focus, and I wouldn't have to worry about if the blur in my picture was a result of movement and a slow shutter speed or just shaking while I held the camera.
3. Photograph a subject and incorporate noise/grain
I sat my camera on the ledge so that the camera would have a level surface to rest on. I then turned my ISO to the highest setting, 6400, and adjusted my aperture and shutter speed accordingly so that the light meter was at zero. I used a piece of paper as my custom white balance, and then focused on the fire extinguisher.
4. Take a portrait-style selfie using the time and aperture priority/value (small depth of field)
I set the camera on a high ledge, so that it would be able to take a picture of my head and upper torso. I set my white balance on custom, and I chose the ten second timer option. I made sure to manually set my aperture, shutter speed, and ISO so that my light balance was at zero before I took the picture.
This unit, I was really impressed by how much I learned. I had never imagined that taking a picture had so many complicated and intertwined steps. I was so surprised to find out that you could change the amount of light let into the lens with aperture, and I now use aperture regularly when I have to taken pictures in a dark setting at home. ISO is also helpful in letting in light, but also by adding texture to the picture. If you have a higher ISO then you will have more "noise" in your picture, and you will have less grain if you have a lower ISO. White Balance is another incredible tool, and I am amazed that now I can make the camera take pictures that will have the same colors that I see in real life. I had always thought that there was no way to fix these problems, and I only really knew how to zoom in and out and focus the camera before. Shutter speed is also extremely helpful, especially fast shutter speed which easily captures the action in whatever moment you want. Also, I learned how P, Av, Tv, M, and A-Dep can make taking pictures easier and faster by controlling some aspects of the picture.
